Last Tuesday, I (Jeff) had the opportunity to be a guest on the Comic Industry Insiders podcast. Over the last couple of years at ComicsPro, Adam and I have had the opportunity to chat one-on-one with Atom! Freeman and Brian Garside quite a bit. I’ve been a regular viewer of their podcast pretty much since the beginning. Brian is the main person behind Manage Comics, and he and I have been speaking lately about some programming topics.
They were looking for volunteers to speak both pro and con about AI. I stated up front that I am NOT an AI expert, but just a shop owner who has experience using AI tools for a variety of everyday tasks—including helping me put together this very newsletter. Additionally, my former job as a Computer Science instructor at WWCC (our local community college) gave me a slightly different perspective compared to the average hobby shop owner.

I was brought in to serve as a rebuttal to the anti-AI guest, Hanibal Tabu, who speaks first. Please bear in mind that I actually agreed with many of the points Hanibal made. Ultimately, I don't believe AI will be the end of humanity, and I think it might potentially be key in helping solve some of our bigger problems. However, I do readily acknowledge that, like most technologies, it can also be used in criminal and sinister ways.
If you have a personal interest in AI and don’t know a whole lot about it, I highly recommend watching the documentary The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist. It is free if you are a Peacock subscriber, and it can also be streamed for a fee on several other platforms like Apple TV and Amazon.

MTG x Marvel Super Heroes Prerelease Weekend
Join us at Digital Heroes for the Marvel's Super Heroes Prerelease events! Prerelease is a fantastic way to get a first look at the new set release, and they are just a lot of fun to play.
How it Works: If you've never played in a prerelease, it's easy! At the start of the event, you get a Prerelease kit which contains 6 booster packs. You open the packs and build a deck of 40 cards (we provide all the basic lands you need). Then, you play 3 casual rounds against other players.
